President Megawati Sukarnoputri is battling for her political survival. With 60% of votes counted, her Party of Indonesian Democratic Struggle (PDI-P) looks to have lost to Golkar in parliamentary elections held on April 5. Of greater concern, however, are a series of opinion polls showing her losing upcoming presidential elections to former security minister Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The ex-general's popularity has soared since he resigned from Megawati's cabinet in March.
