Singapore's economy will ride on the coattails of global recovery in 2004, with exports rising rapidly, port activity expanding briskly, new orders from the US providing a boost for local manufacturing, and rising world demand for technology strengthening Singapore's position as an important link in the global supply chain for computer chips. Real GDP will rise 5.0% in 2004.
