Singapore could be in danger of causing social disorientation if it lives up to its promise of ending its role as a nanny state. Future prime minister Lee Hsien Loong, who will likely take over from current Premier Goh Chok Tong in the middle of this year, says it is time for the government to shake off its reputation for being over-protective and embrace a new, more vibrant social era.
