July 2006 | Political Risk AnalysisTrials of surviving senior Khmer Rouge leaders will likely begin in Q107 after 27 legal officials - including 17 Cambodians - were sworn in. A bevy of issues - geopolitical, financial and legal - have precluded progress for some time now, but the United Nations (UN) General Assembly approved a compromise in 2003. The trials will be conducted under Cambodian national court structure with a mix of local and international judges.
