Coalition Parties Pledge Stronger Ties
December 2005 | Ratings UpdateThe leaders of the two parties in Cambodia’s ruling coalition have pledged stronger ties with each other. In a statement, the two parties agreed to campaign together during elections, rather than insult each other. It is feared that the agreement between Prince Norodom, head of the Funcinpec party, and Prime Minister Hun Sen, of the Cambodian People’s Party, could make it even more difficult for the country’s opposition parties to challenge the government. Sam Rainsy, leader of the main opposition party in Cambodia, fled the country in February after losing his parliamentary immunity
