September 2005 | Risk SummaryThe government has signalled its intention to clamp down on public waste and corruption. A new anti-corruption law was passed at the National Assembly session in April. However, there are concerns about how well the new law will be implemented. Nevertheless, corruption is less of a problem in Laos than in neighbouring Cambodia and the threat to the ruling Lao People's Revolutionary Party from this source is currently manageable.
