The government's National Convention, which is tasked with drafting a new constitution as a prelude to elections as a possible way out of the country's political deadlock, was supposed to resume its deliberations after a period of recess in February. However, it still has not done so and the government has not said when this will happen. The outlook for the government's so-called 'road map to democracy' has worsened since the eruption of a power struggle in the military last year.
