The two main political parties in Cambodia appear close to agreement after last year's disputed general election which left the South East Asian country in political deadlock. The breakthrough came after Hun Sen of the ruling Cambodian People's Party settled his differences with Prince Norodom Ranariddh of the opposition FUNCINPEC in a number of policy areas. Only once a new government is formed will it be possible to ratify a number of key pieces of legislation, including a long-delayed Khmer Rouge genocide trial.
