October 2005 | Risk SummaryPolice have arrested nearly 400 suspects after a co-ordinated wave of bombings around the country in August. Two banned Islamic groups, Jagrata Muslim Janata Bangladesh and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, are suspected of involvement in the terrorist attacks, with copies of a leaflet found at most bomb sites carrying a call by the parties for the introduction of Islamic rule in Bangladesh. Teachers and students of madrasas, Islamic religious schools, have also been arrested.
