US Calls For Political Calm

America has urged Bangladesh to remain on course for democracy, and to keep moving towards religious and political tolerance, following a visit by the US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia. Following a meeting with Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and opposition leader Sheikh Hasina, Christina Rocca expressed concern about safety in the country and called for better governance. Although there have been a string of attacks in the country, India's confirmation that it will attend the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) summit in Dhaka in November, after being originally postponed following security concerns, suggest improved regional
