May 2005 | Risk SummaryIndia has resumed military aid to insurgency-racked Nepal after King Gyandandra's government lifted a state of emergency and freed dozens of political prisoners. In a statement released May 10, the Ministry of External Affairs said: 'the Government of India has decided to release some of the supplies currently in the pipeline, including vehicles.' India suspended aid shipments on February 22 after Gyandendra seized power in a palace coup. But India has since become concerned by the growing influence in Nepal of foreign powers, especially China.
