Bangladesh has found no links between local Islamic groups and international terrorism, despite arresting hundreds of suspected militants, according to Bangladesh's foreign minister. In a Reuters interview, Morshed Khan said two radical Muslim organisations had been banned in an attempt to crackdown on radical teachings, rejecting opposition party charges that some militants have the blessing of the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Though the predominately Muslim nation may be free from Islamic militancy, without further easing of domestic political tension, which has frequently lead to violent clashes, the country will remain highly volatile.
