April 2005 | Risk SummaryPassengers on board the first buses to cross divided Kashmir for nearly 60 years arrived safely on April 7 despite the threat of attack. Militants opposed to the peace process between India and Pakistan had vowed to target the buses but there were no major incidents. Two buses left Srinagar in Indian-held Kashmir from Muzaffrabad on the Pakistani side in what Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called 'a caravan for peace'. One bus made the trip from Muzaffrabad to Srinagar.
