In Haryana, Congress swept the Indian National Lok Dal from power after winning 67 of the local assembly's 90 seats. But the polls led to hung parliaments in the two north-eastern states of Bihar and Jharkhand. Congress' governor in Jharkhand triggered an uproar on March 3 by swearing in a government led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, a member of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance coalition, even though the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won more seats.
