India has expressed 'grave concern' at King Gyanendra's takeover of power in neighbouring insurgency-racked Nepal. On February 1, Gyanendra dismissed Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and appointed his own 10-member government in a bid to defeat a nine-year Maoist uprising. New Delhi fears that increasing turmoil in Nepal will embolden its own left-wing rebels, known as Naxalites, who are believed to have close links with their comrades across the Himalayan
