The Bangladesh economy continues to suffer from devastating floods which will be particularly damaging for the agricultural sector. A rehabilitation programme set up by the government and supported by the Asian Development Bank may moderate the effect on growth rates during the fiscal year ending June 30 2005, but the sharp increase in food prices will add to inflation pressure.
