Aziz Sworn In As Prime Minister

Shaukat Aziz has been sworn in as Pakistan's new prime minister and has pledged to continue with the political and economic reforms of the past five years. Addressing the National Assembly, the lower house of parliament, Aziz said that he would work towards creating a 'welfare Islamic state' by strengthening democracy and improving the lives of the poor. He also pledged to strengthen law and order by taking a hard line against criminals and terrorists. But, in military-ruled Pakistan, becoming prime minister will prove a great deal easier than running the country.
