September 2004 | Political Risk AnalysisSeptember is a month of ongoing protests and demonstrations against Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-led Islamist alliance as the opposition rallies to demand an inquiry into a grenade attack at a rally for the opposition Awami League that killed 19 people and wounded 150. It was the bloodiest in a series of unexplained blasts across the country since 2000 - at rallies, concerts, cinema halls, mosques and a church - which have killed at least 107 people and wounded nearly 600. In May, a bomb exploded near a mosque in Sylhet killing three people and wounded more
