April 2006 | Macroeconomic ForecastsNorth Korea's economic performance will continue to disappoint. The economy is 20% smaller in real terms than it was 20 years ago, and we forecast growth of just 1.5% this year. There is growing speculation that North Korea may attempt to copy the reform programme introduced in China 25 years ago. However, further opening to the world economy will remain impossible until a solution to the nuclear problem is found, and relations with the US improve.
