Following In China's Footsteps?
April 2006 | Economic AnalysisThere are reports that North Korean Leader Kim Jung Il is about to embark on a series of free-market reforms in a bid to boost the country's ailing economy. The speculation follows a rare visit by Kim to China in January, where he is reported to have visited the model reform cities of Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Zhuhai in China's prosperous Pearl River Delta region. Rumours that Kim may be about to press ahead with further economic reform also came when the North Korean news agency
