Chief Executive Rules Out Further Reform
March 2006 | Political Risk AnalysisHong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang has said he will not introduce any further proposals for increasing democracy in the city before the end of his current term in 2007. The statement was made after lawmakers in Hong Kong rejected his plans for constitutional change in the Legislative Council (LegCo) in December. Instead, Tsang will spend the remaining 18 months of his term focusing on other issues such as the economy.
