Growth in Taiwan will accelerate to 4.1% in 2006, compared with estimated growth of 3.9% in 2005. The main reason for the more optimistic forecast is the improving outlook for the electronics sector, which accounts for approximately 30% of Taiwan’s exports. Electronics orders fell in the first half of last year, but with inventories now at low levels, demand has begun to increase.
