Macroeconomic Forecast Hong Kong
October 2005 | Macroeconomic ForecastsWe have maintained our growth expectation for Hong Kong this year at 5.9%. We have chosen to keep our forecast constant on the basis of strong second quarter expansion of 6.8% year-on-year, and despite expectations of slower growth in the second half of this year. A key risk to our GDP growth forecast is the impact of sustained high oil prices, which are slowing growth in Hong Kong's main trading partners, and could threaten to reduce demand for the territory's exports to a significant extent.
