Taiwan's economy will grow by 3.6% in 2005, according to BMI's latest forecast. Our forecast represents a major slowdown from the 5.7% rate of economic expansion in 2006. The main reasons for the poor growth outlook this year include high oil prices, slower import growth in China, slower growth in the US, and a downturn in demand for IT products.
