Macroeconomic Forecast Taiwan

July 2005 | Macroeconomic Forecasts

BMI is forecasting growth for Taiwan this year at 3.6%, despite the disappointing 2.5% y-o-y growth in the first quarter. This represents a fall from last month's forecast of 4.0%. The poor outlook is based on a number of factors, including high oil prices, slower import growth in China, lower growth in the US, and a significant slowdown in demand for IT products - which is expected to hit Taiwan especially hard. Our growth forecast for 2006 is currently 4.8%.
