April 2005 | Macroeconomic ForecastsNorth Korea has been toying with market-style reforms to its rigid state-run economy, in an effort to revive the country's fortunes. Though some have benefited from the tentative opening, many are still suffering amid high inflation and mass unemployment. Trouble formulating economic policies may be behind the unprecedented postponing of Pyongyang's regular meeting of the Supreme People's Assembly. North Korea's top legislative body will now meet on April 11 to approve the new budget.
