Thousands Morn Death of Zao Ziyang
February 2005 | Ratings UpdateThousands of people in Hong Kong have been paying tributes to China's purged leader, Zhao Ziyang, in the largest gathering to mark his death on Chinese soil. Zhao is held in high regard in Hong Kong for daring his sympathy with the pro-democracy movement, which led to the Tiananmen Square Massacre, of June 4 1989. The tributes show once again that despite the victory of the pro-Bejing parties in last year's Legislative Council elections, the demand for more democracy in Hong Kong remains.
