China and North Korea both share a close revolutionary history, dating back to when they fought together against the Americans during the Korean war. It is this that explains why China continues to turn a blind eye to North Korea's ongoing nuclear brinkmanship, even though it may now be in China's best interest to bring an end to the reign of Kim Jong-il.
