Partnership With US Crucial For Post-2014 Stability

BMI View: Afghanistan and the US on April 22, 2012, agreed to a draft of a new Strategic Partnership Agreement that will define the parameters of the American presence in Afghanistan for up to a decade after most NATO troops withdraw in 2014. Despite tensions between Kabul and Washington, we believe that US support will remain crucial for Afghanistan's security for the foreseeable future, not least because other regional powers, such as Russia, China, and India, are far less committed.
