In a sign of thawing US-Pakistani relations, the head of the US Central Command has urged the South Asian nation to share a map of its facilities near the Afghan border in order to prevent accidents such as the one that led to the death of 24 Pakistani soldiers in November. In addition, the CIA seems to have temporarily suspended its domestically unpopular drone strikes in Pakistan. While bilateral relations remain fragile, we continue to believe that Washington will not want to push Islamabad too severely, as any attempt to isolate the latter could lead to its further radicalisation or push the country closer to China.
