Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said in May that a legal team will be set up to present Thailand's case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in response to Cambodia's petition for the court to interpret its judgement on the Preah Vihear temple in 1962 and to clarify the territorial boundary between the two countries. Although we remain sceptical that a resolution over the border dispute could be achieved in the near term, we note that the involvement of the ICJ would play a major role in enforcing a ceasefire at the border.
