Surge In FDI Inflows No Cause For Optimism

Laos is expected to attract a record amount of FDI inflows this year as several large scale infrastructure projects are set to commence construction over the coming months. Furthermore, government efforts to speed up privatisation of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), encourage more local private companies to be listed on the new stock exchange, should support an optimistic outlook for FDI inflows over the coming quarters.
