MENA-Style Political Contagion Unlikely In Asia
February 2011 | Political Risk AnalysisAlthough the economic 'triggers' which helped ignite political chaos in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are, to some extent, present in Asia, we do not expect a similar popular backlash. This is because of the existence of a far more democratic and accountable structural political environment in the region, particularly in terms of constitutional strength and rule of law. Furthermore, the region's societal characteristics are in a more stable position when compared to MENA.
