MENA-Style Political Contagion Unlikely In Asia

Although the economic 'triggers' which helped ignite political chaos in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are, to some extent, present in Asia, we do not expect a similar popular backlash. This is because of the existence of a far more democratic and accountable structural political environment in the region, particularly in terms of constitutional strength and rule of law. Furthermore, the region's societal characteristics are in a more stable position when compared to MENA.
